Just drop it into the local swimming pool.
Just because you can drive a Jeep just about anywhere doesn’t mean you should. But to be fair, one of Jeep’s slogans is “Go Anywhere, Do Anything,” and that’s exactly what Lakewood resident Cheryl Chapman decided to do. Maybe she just wanted to test the waters…pun intended. Long story short, she raced her SUV up the Lake Avenue apartment driveway and slammed through a fence, placing her vehicle at the bottom of an Edgewater Drive swimming pool.
This was on a Saturday, so of course people were at this pool getting their tan on. Thankfully, everyone was on the opposite side of the pool when the Jeep belly-flopped in, and only a few were hit by debris leaving minor injuries. It was stated that the SUV was heading straight for the grill, but by the grace of god, the pool stopped it. It’s one thing to ruin a pool party, place a large object at the bottom of the pool, and destroy the fence surrounding it, but destroying a man’s grill is just plain selfish.
The woman was rescued from the Jeep and rushed to the hospital to find she too had only minor injuries. And an OVI. My guess is that after the jeep was hoisted out and the battery removed, it was placed in a massive bag of rice to dry out.
