[intro-text size=”25px”]This is one of those songs that everyone attributes to the wrong person.[/intro-text] Hippies seem to think this is a Phish song, others think that Robert Palmer’s blue-eyed funk version is the original. In actuality, this is a Lee Dorsey song featuring his very talented backing band, The Meters.

It’s another funny one, about a man getting caught having an affair, and then trying to talk his way out of it. The lyrics are pretty straightforward but the arrangement, with the seemingly disjointed drums, actually adds a perfect palate for Dorsey to sing over. I think that’s what I dislike about the other versions; their beats are too simplistic and it really takes away from the storytelling aspect of the song. This is one of my favorites and always makes the cut when I DJ. Enjoy!
