The Cleveland-based rock magazine Alternative Press will host it’s annual music awards show at the Q in Cleveland Monday, July 17.
Black Veil Brides singer Andy Biersack will emcee the event which will feature performances by Korn, Against Me!, The Pretty Reckless and Japan metal superstars One OK Rock, among others. Machine Gun Kelly will play to a music crowd for the first time at KeyBank State Theatre, his appearances there having otherwise been most commonly linked to half-time of Cavs playoff games. Fellow Cleveland rappers Bone Thugs are also scheduled to perform.
AP boss Mike Shea spoke to PressureLife about the APMAs for our last print issue. After having been booted from Cleveland in favour of the RNC in 2016, the rock awards show got a boost of support from the city for a redo this year. Shea explained, “The City of Cleveland came to the table and said they really want to support the show and use it as an example of what Cleveland can do with music, outside of just having concerts.”
The Alternative Press Music Awards sit at the forefront of the local effort to rebuild Cleveland’s international rock n’ roll reputation. Fan Days with panel discussions, red carpet spectacles, the teasing of surprise performers and official after-parties are all part of the event. A live stream will be available through mobile devices at www.music.amazon/apmas. And of course, music press from all over the world. This is the big-time, Cleveland.
PressureLife will be on hand with exclusive coverage from all the hot spots at the APMAs, including video from the red carpet with our own personal emcee, Dave Sebille, and musings from the award ceremonies and performances. If you’re not there with your ass in a seat, make sure you’re following us on Twitter and Instagram for all the cool, exclusive bits.
